Getting Ready for Christmas

Last weekend marked the official start to the Christmas season. Woo Hoo! In Oakville, (my hometown ), Santa arrived and the huge tree in the Town Square was lit. My husband and I spent Friday evening with my sister, her husband and my 8 year old nephew, Robert, in downtown Oakville to celebrate the lighting of the Christmas tree.

Robert - enjoying the festivities!
It was a perfect evening  - we sang carols and sipped hot apple cider as we waited for the lights to appear. And then finally...

The beautiful Oakville Christmas tree

Traditional red and gold decorations and LOTS of lights

After the lights came on, we walked along the main street to look at the Christmas window displays. Here are some of my favorites:

Anthropologie  - love the charming paper chain

Aveda's window - a full size cut out of kids in the snow

Write Impressions featured a silvery and white snowflake tree

But here was our top pick...

An eyeglass shop - Styrofoam snowman heads wearing shades - how cool!

So now that the season is underway, I have lots to do - decorate my front door with festive urns and a welcoming wreath, plan my inside decor theme, make a list of gifts for friends and family, organize my baking schedule and purchase ingredients, select my wrapping paper and cards and plan the Christmas menu and table decorations. Stay tuned!
