Homemade Nuts and Bolts



Who doesn't like a little salty and savory flavour with Christmas cocktails? I always make a big batch of nuts and bolts to serve with drinks and they are always a hit.

Here's how I do it.


 Preheat oven to 250 degrees. In a large roasting pan mix the following ingredients - 4 cups of shreddies, 4 cups of cheerios, 4 cups of pretzels, I box of cheese nips, 1 box of mini Ritz crackers, 2 cups of mixed nuts, 1 cup cashews, 2 cups sesame sticks. Or feel free to add/substitute with some of your own favourites.
In a separate bowl mix 1 lb of melted butter, 2 packages of dry onion soup mix, 1/4 cup cheddar cheese powder, 2 T Worcestershire sauce, 1 T garlic powder, 1/2 celery salt and 5 dashes of Tabasco sauce.
Pour butter mixture over dry ingredients and mix really well. Bake in oven for 2 hours stirring well every 1/2 hour. Store in an air tight container or zip lock bag.

Homemade nuts and bolts make a great Hostess gift when visiting friends over the holidays. Package in a cello bag and tie with festive ribbon and you are good to go.
