What makes you happy? That's a big question. But rather than think about the 'big' happiness question, why not focus on little things that make you happy. Here's a few small things you can do on a regular basis to make you happy. They will certainly help with the winter blahs.
1. Make your bed.
According to the book " The Happiness Project" by Gretchin Rubin, making your bed, which takes less than 3 minutes ( even with lots of decorative pillows! ) , is a simple task which can greatly impact your happiness. ( I haven't read her book but I think I will add it to my reading list. Click here for a link to her book.)
I have to agree. When my bed is made, my room looks nice and that makes me happy!
2. Do a small good deed for a stranger. Next time you are at the drive-through grabbing a coffee, pay for an extra one for the car behind you. As you drive away, think how surprised that person will be. I know it will put a smile on your face and make you feel happy. And for less than $3.00!
3. Have a bubble bath.
What could be better on a cold winter evening than coming home from work, pouring a glass of wine and soaking in a nice hot bath with lots of bubbles. Dim the lights and light a scented candle. I am happy just thinking about it.
4. Dinner with candles.
A mid week dinner can be special. Simply light a few candles and voila!
There are lots of little things you can do to make yourself ( and others ) happy. So make your bed and get happy!
