I celebrated my birthday last week! Although I'm not thrilled about being another year older, I enjoyed the surprises, gifts, cake and champagne that accompanied the festivities. This year I was treated to a luxurious night away at the lovely Langdon Hall in Cambridge thanks to my mom, sisters and husband.
The grounds are beautifully kept with gorgeous flowers and water gardens.
It is a secluded and very quiet property. Perfect for a bit of R&R
And the food is spectacular - to look at, as well as to eat! My salad was presented in the palms of a pair of hands. How clever! And the cheese course was a mascarpone cheese macaroon!
It was a get-away to remember and I sure hope to go again.
Upon returning home, we continued the party with a backyard BBQ. Cupcakes decorated by my daughter ( pictured above ) were enjoyed by all. And I was given a fun kitchen tool - the spiralizer. ( I know most people don't get excited about kitchen gadgets as gifts but I have been eyeing this one and pinning recipes so I was thrilled to open this gift.)

The spiralizer " produces spiral cuts, shoestrings and vegetable "noodles" for adding new texture to pasta dishes, stir-fries and salads. You can make long ribbons of cucumber, carrots and radishes for salads, or apple spirals for apple slaw. Cut onion rings, potato chips, shoestring potatoes or curly sweet potato fries in seconds". Love it! ( Watch for great recipes using my new toy.)
Many thanks to everyone who made my day so special. Love you all!
